Hi everybody, does anyone know if there is a way to set up your database backup jobs to have 7 different backup files, for each day? What I'm trying to say, I want to have 7 day's worth of backup files, can someone help me?
Thanks

Take a look at the maintenance wizard, it lets you configure how many days are kept on disk.

I think that you can also put an expire date on the backup and just keep backing up to the same device. I've only read a little about this. We use a tape divice to backup our data and keep weekly and monthly tapes offsite.
I've read on other newsgroups that Maintenance plans tend to be buggy, I've never used them so I can't speak from experience.

They work pretty well. Have had no problems so far. My only complaint is it wont let you run a plan on something like all db's that start with X or something like that, though you can do it with a little trickery with the tables that hold the config. I always recommend the maint wizard.
