XP Pro SP2 -- SQL Server 2005 Setup runs a System Configuration Check issuing a warning about the COM Plus Catalog Requirement:
* If SQL Server Setup fails, Setup will roll back the installation but may
not remove all .manifest files. The workaround is to rename the files and
then rerun Setup. For more information, see How to: Work Around COM+ Check Failure in SQL Server Setup.
I've read and applied the workaround document (How to: Work Around COM+ Check Failure) and I've used web search and have posted
several times to newsgroups.
Setup fails successively, I'm out of options and can't find which .manifest files that I'm supposed to rename. Can you help?

Does it fail with the same COM+ message?

Yes, it was failing with the same message. Thank you for replying Joseph. Late last night I resolved the problem with SQL server 2005 and as it turns out the solution had nothing to do -- directly --with the error messages.
The solution was found at this lousy blog application [1] that does not support document linking but I am very grateful to Chris Dalby the author of the blog who wrote the topic "Distributed Transaction Coordinator failed to start" which I finally found using web search.
