SQL Server 2008 even when installed on another drive still puts files on the C: drive. This is causing us to run low on free space on the C: drive after applying the latest SQL Server patches.
I am looking at deleting or moving the sub-folder "Update Cache" and "Log" located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\
The Log sub-folder seems to be a bunch of text log files concerning the installation. Do I need them if I call Microsoft support? Can I compress the folder?
The Update Cache sub-folder seems to be used to uninstall a patch. After a week or so I wont be uninstalling it. Can it be deleted? Is there a recommend way to delete it?

I typically remove this type of stuff. It seems to have no ill-effect and I have not been asked by PSS for these folders.
If you are concerned about them, it might be worthwhile to move the folders to another "archive" drive so you still have the folders and files.
