Setting up xp_sendmail on Windows 2003

  In SQL Books (xp_sendmail) states in the setup: "In Control Panel, double-click the Mail icon..." But on my Windows 2003 server there isn't a MAIL icon in the control panel. Does that get there only after Outlook is installed?

  Is Outlook required to run xp_sendmail? I looked for specific information on a Windows 2003 Server installation, but couldn't find anything. Any tips would be appreciated.

  xp_sendmail relies on MAPI, which is installed with Outlook. And yes when you install Outlook you will get an icon in Control Panels.
