Well caught with the UDF hole. That's the sort of thing you could overlook and wonder why a select statement is returning garbage results.. Thanks!

I would question the reliability of the SET ROWCOUNT @n...
.. unless of course it's a problem with SELECT TOP n, i've just tried both methods with the exact same query and each method returned a different result-set.
Does anyone know of any inherent differences in the 2 methods that we should all be aware of?
