We have a consultant here who is working on creating reports which read a cube on one server which recieve data from another. Both servers are virtual servers.
Protocols for MSSQLServer are that TCP/IP is enabled but Named Pipes are disabled. I can access the cubes directly from my workstation using Excel 2003 but when we try to access the cubes from one server it returns an error message. When I use my own Excel the options are Windows Authentication or SQL Authentication. When I use Excel on the server the options are Windows 2000 or SQL Authentication. The error message is that the server is not started or too busy. Another consultant has offered the advice that Named Pipes need to be enabled.
Can anyone offer any assistance?
