Server Authentication Mode Keeps changing at reboot.

  • Hello, I have a weird issue... We have two node cluster, one of which has been down for a bit for SAP issues…

The Working node has a weird issue that when and or if it gets rebooted the SQL Server Authentication Mode will flip/switch to either Windows or Mixed, each time you reboot it…

    Can you help?

  • It means the registry key for that is being rolled back/reset. Make sure the registry is saved correctly, doesn't have any corruption, etc. Which mode SQL Server uses for authentication is stored in the registry.

  • Make sure it's the same on both nodes as well.

Aye, I'd agree with Steve on this one, check the registry on both nodes. I don't believe the registry hive is replicated automatically with respect to the SQL Server service.

  • Both servers have the same Reg setting..
