Thanks guys but still no go. I had read most of the links you gave me but right now I'm going to step back from it, take a break, and I'll come back and re-read and see what I am missing.

The way that we do it is to set up a domain account that has local admin rights to the server, and that account is used to run the SQL and SQL Agent services. This account is then also setup in Exchange. Login to the server with this account and setup Outlook. You may want to disable saving sent msgs. and delete any incoming msgs. too.
Remember, there are two locations on the Ent. Manager tree that you need to go to in order to setup the mail services, Support Services, and properties of the SQL Agent.
