Semaphore Errors in Variety of Applications

  • Hello - about 2 months ago our users started to receive semaphore errors in a variety of applications we run with SQL Server backends, including SSMS.  All of our servers are hosted in Azure and our SQL servers are traditional server setups, we are not using Azure SQL managed instances or databases.

Resources on the SQL servers look fine.  CPU runs at 50% or less on average and there is plenty of memory available.  I do have the instances capped at a certain amount of memory and it's been that way since the instances were created 2+ years ago.  The applications are all hosted/published in Azure Virtual Desktop.

I've done a lot of research and everything points to a networking issue, however we haven't made any significant networking changes (other than installing a new DNS server) over the last couple of months.

Has anyone run into similar issues and any hints on how you were able to nail down the actual issue?

    Thanks

  • Thanks for posting your issue and hopefully someone will answer soon.
