SAN Testing (Disks)

  • Hi All,

I have a new SAN box, but on installing it, I realised that it was taking longer to perform operations on the database.

Although the Original system was an enterprise system with 4GB memory, the test system where the SAN is only has 2GB of memory and nothing else installed on the server, yet it takes 20minutes to create a filegroup on the original server and almost 3hours on the server with a new SAN.

I reckon it migh tbe to do with the SAN disks, and not really memory, although the new server only has 2GB memory on it, but nothing else running on it.

Any help willb e much appreciated.

I am looking at a SAN testing tool, but the microsoft tools hasnt really been much help.....

    Thanks

    Kindest Regards,

  • You can use the sqliostress utility http://support.microsoft.com/kb/231619/.

    Does normal copy works well?

    Doublechecked SAN-configuration?
