I am working on a report and I have a line chart that shows # of hits per month. The dataset has data that goes all the way back to 2007, but I only want to show the past 5 months worth of data on the line chart. Is there any way to filter it within the chart, and not the SQL that the dataset is using?

Yes you can, Goto chart properties and you will find Filter tab in left navigation,select that and specify the filter criteria.Attached is sample screen shot.

What if you want to have one data series use one subset of your data, while another uses a different subset?
