Restoration of abf file (OLAP) failure.

    Hello All,

    I have got an abf file. I have tried at least a dozen time to restore it but failed.

    It gives an error message saying --

    "The connection either timed out or was lost. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices)"

    Also it has an additional information saying --

    "Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. (System)"

    I am really not sure what is wrong or where exactly I need to look. Please help, I am a newbie into the OLAP ocean.

    Well .. I got the solution for this problem.

    I had to install the Service pack-2 for SQL2K5 on the target machine for the restore of the OLAP DB as the backup was taken from a machine that had SP-2 for SQL2K5.
