Report Viewer control asking for credentials after 5 minutes in load balanced server

  Hi,

  We have a problem in running a few reports using report viewer control from our website. There are some reports which take more than five minutes to execute because of large datasets.When I run such reports the report viewer control will ask for credentials after "5 minutes". If you do not provide credentials and click on 'Cancel', it throws “remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized’ error.

  Note that this error will not come for the reports which take less than 5 minutes to execute.

  After some troubleshooting we found the possible cause of this issue – On Big-ip load balancer settings there is a idle timeout of 300 seconds (5 minutes). And this is causing the web session of report rendering to get timed out after 5 minutes and we receive the “401” unauthorized error on the report.

  We can not have this workaround because there are other application servers are also managed by BIG-IP, and we do not want to disturb their behavior.

  Is there an alternate solution for this issue through application code / IIS configuration / report server settings which can resolve this.

  Mu current setup is SSRS 2008 + IIS 7.5 (.NET 4.0)

  Report server and web server are different boxes. Web server is load balanced with BIG IP address.
