REPORT MANAGER suddenly denying access to everyone (including Administrator!!)

  • Please:

    (1) We've been running SSRS 2005 on Windows Server 2003 for more than a year . . . with no problems.

    (2) Suddenly, in the middle of the afternoon, users could no longer access the report folders: Report Manager comes up, but all they see is "HOME" and none of the folders.

    (3) Moreover . . . the same is happening to me when I run Report Manager as Administrator (using "http://xxxx/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx").

    (4) The only clue (but probably a good one) that I have is that when I try to bring the report Manager up using "http://localhost/ReportServer " instead . . . I get a security error:

    Reporting Services Error

The permissions granted to xxxxxxx are insufficient for performing this action. (rsAccess denied)

    (5) Any idea what's going on?

    (6) We are not running Windows Vista . . . we had no Windows updates in the middle of the afternoon . . . and no one made any changes of any kind to SQL Server or Windows Server in last 24 hours.

    Thanks (!)

  • What happens if you run the Reporting Services Configuration Manager? I'd be sure to run it directly on the Reporting Services server.

  • Can you check the ReportServer database to ensure nothing has been corrupted.
