Replication - PULL or PUSH

  • Hi all.

We are now creating a Replication procedure for our production server. the replication goes to a backup server.

we have created a PUSH subcription with around 30 publications. now we suffer from bad performance on the server that take allot of memory on the prodcution server.

My question is, will PULL subcription cause to the backup server to work hard rather than theproduction server that works hard in the PUSH type? will the jobs of the replicaion will be sitting in the backup server.

it is very important to us the the clinet will not need to upgrade their memory size (they have aroung 1.5GB-2GB).

does someone can give me links to articles that talk about PUSH and PULL subscribers.

    Thanks allot.

  • Go to Books Online, and look at the "overview" section of PULL and PUSH subscriptions.  There's some good info there.

  • A pull subscription will mean that the subscriber is responsible for getting the information. However, it's a little bit more involved than that. As homebrew01 indicates, take a good look at the BOL and what it says. Also look through Andy Warren's articles here on this site.
