My client has salesmen located throughout the country that access the reporting services server through a wireless connect via a VPN.
Some of reports require the salesman to select the input parameters for the report. Each time the salesman selects a parameter the delay before the next drop down parameter list becomes available is about 20 seconds. Some of this delay has been trace to the server which is taking about 3 seconds to obtain the data for the next drop down parameter.
How can I trace what is causing the additional 17 second delay?

Using performance monitor I find that Reporting Services is sending the entire report (including drop down parameters) each time a parameter is selected that causes the next drop down parameter box to be loaded.
Does anybody know how to teach reporting services to only send the SQL request and the associated data for the next drop down box instead of refreshing the entire report?
