Hi,
I have installed SQL Server 2000 on my local PC (Windows XP).
I can connect to a remote sql server but I need to have a local server on my PC also. For this to work I had installed the program twice but I think it should be possible to have only one instance of SQL Server and have local databases ?
When I try to register my local pc, it's name appears in available servers in the first window of the wizard, but the registration fails saying SQL Server doesn't exist or access denied.
how come it works with two instances of SQL Server ?
thanks for your help

Paul,
When you set-up the instances on your local machine did you set-up using SQL authentication or Windows?
How are you trying to connect to your local? If you are attempting SQL authentication did you set a password for sa? Do you remember it?
Can you see the instance running from sql manager (should be in systray)
Thanks,
AJ
