Recommendations for T-SQL Book?

  • Hi SSC,

I'm looking for recommendations to a good book on learning T-SQL. I know the basics of writing a query such a simple select/insert/update. I'd like to learn more, like joins, functions, etc.

It would be really cool if the book a test database to download and exercises.

I know I can scour the as there are thousands if not millions of pages including BOL but I'm looking to get a solid foundation before I rely on just reference.

Any positive input would be greatly appreciated!

  • T-SQL Fundamentals is nice book as recommended by Gail Shaw.

  • Great, thank you Gail. I will look it over today!

  • Totally agree with Gail. Itzik is great, and if you should happen to get the opportunity to attend one of his sessions or courses, do so.
