Hi,
We have recently lost one of our Cluster Nodes for a 2 node active/passive setup.
We lost the passive node of a SQL 2005 SP1 install on 2 x windows Server 2003 servers.
I'm looking at rebuilding the cluster and I am hoping that the rebuild will be as simple as rerunning the install program on the existing cluster node and re-setting up the cluster functionality at the appropriate point.
Can anyone confirm that? Or is it simple to uninstall SQL completely and reinstall it again from scratch...?
Thx

1, Remove Node information from SQL Server by running setup from Add/Remove program
2. Evict node from Windows
3. Add new node
4. Add Node to SQL Server (Add/Remove Programe > Change > Maintain....)

there is a MS article giving step by step instructions. if you do it wrong you will need to rebuild the entire cluster from scratch

Does the active node go offline if you attach a new node to the cluster...?
