Quest Litespeed restoring forever

  • Hi guys,

I've seen other people post questions about litespeed so maybe you guys can help me.

I tried to restore a backup of a database from the day before as I had somehow lost some data. So I went into the litespeed console and restored the database. It comes up that it's working I can see the percentage ticking away so it seems to be doing the trick. Then it finishes and litespeed says that the database is loading and sql server analyser says it's restoring, so I let it go hoping this was normal (I had never done this before), that was on friday afternoon... it is now monday morning and nothing has changed.

As you can imagine I'm quite alarmed.

These are the steps I've followed:

Right click on database > restore > database

specify backup device window: database already selected > next

backup content window: selected from the backup time i wanted > IntelliRestore is ticked> next

recovery options window: Overwrite existing database ticked > restore with recovery selected > next

data files window: Point in time selected apropriate date > next

schedule restore window: Execute immediately selected > next

    execute script window: next

Is there anything anyone can see that I have done wrong or does anyone know how to fix it? I can't do anything with the database at all it appears to be in an inactive state. The only thing I seem to be able to do is run the restore again (the wizard allows me to get all the way through but I have not hit next on the execute window), which i'm hesitant to do in case it will make things worse.

So can anyone please give me some advice?

And before someone tells me to contact a DBA, as stupid as it sounds I am that person although I'm not a DBA... I might be a little screwed here...

    Thanks

    Adam

  • Hey guys,

I was able to speak to one of my collegues to re-run the restore and it worked out fine.

Still not sure what happened though...
