QA for 2005

  • Sorry if this was asked already.

What/how do you install just QA kind of utility for database developer to interact with SQL Server 2005.

QA (2000), can connect to SQL 2005, but is that a good idea?

    Thank you.

  • QA 2000 does work with 2005, but there will be some issues with syntax highlighting and with the object browser etc...

You can install Management Studio (Query Analyzer and Enterprise Manager rolled into one) without installing the server components.

  • How do you go about this?

  • This may not be EXACT, but you launch the installer located in either the

    \SQL Server Itanium\

    \SQL Server x64\

    or \SQL Server x86\

    \tools\setup.exe

depending on your hardware.  From there it should prompt you to select the appropriate components to install.  You want to make sure to choose the client tools, Management Studio in particular.
