Problem installing SQL 2008 Developer Ed

  • I'm running into an issue that's frustrating the crap out of me.

I was running a beta version of Win 7 (which, of course, is expiring soon) and had to install the production version. Of course, that meant reinstalling all my apps (including SQL Server).

Well, I'm trying to install SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition. When SQL Server Setup reaches the Installation Rules section (keep in mind, this is a CLEAN install), it fails on "Previous releases of MS Visual Studio 2008." When I click the status, I see:

A previous release of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 is installed on this computer. Upgrade Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 to the SP1 before installing SQL Server 2008.

Huh?!? What previous release??? This is supposed to be a clean install!!!

    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Okay. I feel like an idiot.

I forgot that I did install VS2008 before trying to install SQL.
