Problem Connecting To SQL Server Express With Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Data Mining Add-ins

  Hi all,

  Running SQL Server Express 2008 R2, MS Office Pro 2010 (32 Bit)

  I downloaded and installed Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Data Mining Add-ins for Microsoft Office

  When I attempt to create a connection through the Data Mining Add-In (DMAI), I receive this error:

  Test Connection failed.

  A connection cannot be made to redirector. Ensure that 'SQL Browser' service is running

  No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:2382

  I pasted the name of the server into DMAI from SSMS

  I can login using Windows Authentication through SSMS - no problem

  I checked in services - SQL Browser service is automatic and started

  Any other ideas what may be wrong?

  Hi to use the data mining add-in you need to run analysis services that is not in supported by SQL express edition.
