I can get Microsoft's Printer Extension to work for a local printer installed on the machine that reporting services is running.
However I cannot get it to work with printers on the network, even when they are installed on the reporting services machine.
Any ideas, anyone?

That is strange I have printed to network printers at different employers you need to configure the printer in your box and use print preview and then print. You need test pages to make sure your reports come out as expected. So you need to configure the network printer and print test pages. I have actually not printed test pages to local printer.
Kind regards,

Thanks very much for your reply.
The problem is that I wished to generate the document on the server and print it on a specified printer on the network (presumably close to the client who requested the report).
I has a mix of problems. Using domain user and giving him permission to use the printers where two of them.
Thanks once again.

Here is what I know the printer must be one of the available printers to the computer you will print the report or it will not work. Your other option is subscription which sends the report to the user's computer for printing.
