Prickly dot matrix printer problem

  • I'm relatively new to Access, and I've been stuck for hours with something that should be simple.

A recent upgrade of a workstation from Win98 to Win2000 caused a problem, because the dot matrix printer (Panasonic KXP-3626) driver is now quite different. The old driver had an option to set "unprintable area", which used to help with this problem (I'd set unprintable area to 0).

Here's the problem. This association prints membership cards on paper forms, 3 forms on each 8x11 inch page. I set up this Access report so that there is no header, no footer, and the detail is 3.6667" (1/3 of 11 inches), so 3 of them comprise a full page.

In Page Setup, I have to pick the paper/form being used from a list of options. (Can I add a custom size to this list?) The only thing I know to do is pick "Standard Fanfold" or "8.5in x 11in Fanfold." Now Access is saying, 'sorry, only 2 fit on a page', and the resulting print leave a blank card on every page.

I've reduced margins as much as Access will let me.

Since the bottom inch and a half of every card has no printing on it, could I actually say the form is 2.6667 inches high and add some vb code somewhere to print blank lines in the last inch of each card?

If there's a better forum for this question, please give me the www. Thanks.

  • Win 2k, w/ access and a dot matrix printer.

Omg not the way I'd like to go out.

    Glad its U, not me.

I'm not sure about your printing, Its gotta be a driver issue. It may/may not allow custom paper sizes.

I'm pretty sure i've been no help at all.

    Sorry
