Ports to be open for logshipping for ALWAYSON to stand-alone

  • Hi Guys,

    Not able to find the information in MS official document.

    Lets say i have a pair of Production Alwayson DB servers and need to replicate to DR server.

    Production:

    =======

    Primary: 192.168.56.101

    Secondary: 192.168.56.102

    AG Listener: 192.168.56.103

    DR:

    ==

    Stand-alone: 192.168.57.101

    Firewall ports required:

    ===============

    SMB port 445:

    Open bi-drectional between Primary: 192.168.56.101 / Secondary: 192.168.56.102 and DR 192.168.57.101.

    SQL Port (1433) - not so clear about this part.

    For this part, i supposed:

    1. Open one way source primary: 192.168.56.101 / Secondary: 192.168.56.102 - 1433 to DR 192.168.57.101.

    2. Open one way source DR 192.168.57.101 - 1433 to AG Listener: 192.168.56.103.

    Am i right?

    thanks

  • Have a look at this article "AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Listener, Named Instances, Port Numbers, etc.[/url]" from the SQL Server Customer Advisory Team.
