Back around the Millenium I got promoted from new developer to DBA because the server died and the previous DBA hadn't backed up Master, Model and particularly the MSDB database that held all the DTS jobs that were the server's major role. It made me very fussy about backups, restores and offsite copies and that mentality has become embedded even though I'm not a DBA now.

I feel ya! First thing I learned in PostgreSQL was backup and restore. It's just where my brain goes.
