Permissions messed up with Service Pack?

  • I installed SP1 and SP2 on a SQL 2008 instance. Before the service packs, I could access the databases in the instance using Windows Authentication. Since then I can not. I'm not too familiar with permissions in SQL Server. How can I check/correct this issue.

(Edit: I can still get in using sa but I am having some issue with an application that uses the DB)

  • first off you could have gone straight to service pack 2 and missed out service pack 1 install, they are cumulative.

to fix your problem, log onto server with SSMS, right click server name, select properties, got to security, select windows and SQL authentication, OK that, restart SQL.
