Performance Issues After Upgrading Hardware

  • I have bought a new database server, Specs are:

4x Duo Xeon 2.8Ghz with Hyperthreading,

    32GB Ram,

    Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition x64 SP1

SQL server 2000 enterprise edition SP4

    AWE is enabled

    /PAE is in boot.ini

    My old database server was:

    4x AMD Opteron 850

    32GB Ram

    Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition x64 SP1

SQL server 2000 enterprise edition SP4

After moving the databases across to this new server i have noticed that jobs are taking longer to run some are taking around an hour longer.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • First, should put this in the SQL 2000 forums (I've moved it).

Second, how did you move the dbs?

Third, is memory adjusted differently for SQL Server? same for data file layout on the disks?

Last, have you updated statistics or rebuilt indexes?
