Page Faults

  • When i am seeing the permon in production server its shwoing the page faults average 759.00 . can you guide for the best way to resolve this issues ? .

  • For memory, your best bet (in my opinion) is page life expectancy. Look at this and see actually how long pages are able to be kept in memory. If it's "low" - say 1000 less - then you may have something going on with and more investigation is warranted. If your in the 10-30 K range, no worries. When I worked at a SQL performance shop (name not specified 😀 ) the basic counters they used were PLE, disk transfer/sec, and cpu usage of course. Check these out and then dig further if you feel that something doesn't look right. Remember that disk will probably be the first thing that goes, followed by memory and then CPU. I rarely see a box without enough horsepower; most of the time it's a whacked disk configuration.
