This morning when I came into work one of the users said that he was having a problem saving to the database. I discovered I was too. However, before I could discover what was going on it seemed to clear itself. This could be something other than SQL Server, of course, and in fact my first inclination is to believe that one of our COM+ components is acting up in Component Services on the server. However, I thought I'd take a look at the event viewer on the server to see what might be there. I found the following entry, which may be related (emphasis on may):
Event Type:Error
Event Source:Perflib
Event Category:None
Event ID:1008
Date:3/11/2010
Time:7:11:59 AM
User:N/A
Computer:OURSERVER
Description:
The Open Procedure for service "MSSQLSERVER" in DLL
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\sqlctr90.dll" failed. Performance data for this service
will not be available. The Status code returned is the first DWORD in the
attached data.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Data:
0000: f3 03 00 00 ó...
Does this have any bearing on why the user couldn't save his data, or no?
(We're using SQL Server 2005 32-bit, with SP2 installed.)
