I'm with Anders, I usually make friends with the people that work hard and are stuck there. I've often been lucky enough to find someone that wants to learn, so I train them a bit, get some help myself, usually a competent set of remote hands.
I always discuss this type of stuff in the interview and make it clear that I don't work myself to death. I work late, I'll probably be in late. Actually just later since I'm usually a bit late already :). If there are deadlines, I'll work the extra hours, but I expect to get compensated in some way, maybe some short days for a week afterward.
