OLEDB provider ran out of memory

  • I am having problem refreshing a local table from a linked server. It is throwing the following error message.

    Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1

The OLE DB provider for linked server reported an error. The provider ran out of memory.

AFAIK, SP2 has since fixed this issue, but it looks like it came back. I have SP3 (cumulative update 6) installed.

    Below is my current config.

    Windows Server 2003 Std x64 R2 with SP2, 8GB RAM

    SQL Server 2005 Std 32-bit with SP3 (CU6)

While running the refresh job, dllhost.exe*32 process used up to 1.95G of memory, and then died with failed execution of the job. My server is 64-bit and user processes shouldn't be limited to 2G only. Is it because I have a 32-bit version of SQL Server 2005? Or is there any reason why it's failing?

Thanks in advance for any help.
