Greetings,
I have taken over DBA job, and recently ran into a problem with a SQL 2008 Server that I maintain.
Using SQL 2008 Studio, there are two Maintenance plans currently in the system. When I try to access them all is well until the 'save' maintenance plan process: They fail with the error: OLE DB error code 0x80004005 (Communication link failure).
I tried to create a new Maintenance Plan, same thing, all is well until saving the plan. Checking things I have Sys Admin rights, and the plenty of disk space on the drive where msdb database lives.
Checking the version levels, I see that:
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio10.0.4000.0
Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools10.0.4000.0
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)6.1.7601.17514
Microsoft MSXML 3.0 6.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0.7601.17514
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.50727.5446
Operating System 6.1.7601
SQL Server 10.0.4000
Now I took this over from someone else who loaded the software, and created the accounts. I have some ideas of what could be causing the problems such as 'permission' issues but haven't a clue how to resolve the problem.
Can you please help steer me in the right direction to fix this issue?
Thanks
Jeff
