    Hi,

    I have a question about backup/restore. we have a large db on out production server and our backup policy is like this :

    a full db backup once a week , a differential db backup every night and transactions log backup every hour.

    I check differential db backup every day and sometimes i get the following error message when checking existing backup on tape :

    No uncataloged sets were found on the tape.

    I want to know is there anyone to be familiar with this error message and its solution.

    any help will be appreciated.

    I believe this comes from a tape put in the drive that contained a previous backup not listed in the backupmediaset tables in msdb database. They can of course be added and when done thru EM it will usually ask you. If however they are not supposed to be there make sure you are running an init or overwrite on the initial first database full backup.
