Network errors from multiple applications

  Hi,

  We have a number of SQL servers with databases that are accessed by mainly Cognos applications(Cognos BI, Data manager , EP)

  On an intermittent basis we get error messages being generated i.e

  UDA-SQL-0564 [Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server][DBNETLIB][ConnectionRead (recv()).]General network error. Check your network documentation. (SQLSTATE=08S01, SQLERRORCODE=11)

  UDA-SQL-0564 [Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server]Connection failure (SQLSTATE=08S01, SQLERRORCODE=0)

  or

  UDA-SQL-0031 Unable to access the xyz Database

  UDA-SQL-0532 Datasource not accesible. "xyz" database

  uda-sql-0564 [microsoft ole db provider for sql server]timeout expired sqlstate=HYT00, sqlerrorcode=0

  Now we have checked the utilisation on cpu / mem / disk / network and all seems to be ok...on all servers accessing any databases on this machine and the database server itself..

  Ran a SQL profiler and around the times of the failure no significant activity was happening...

  So any ideas where to start?

  Risk is involved here as registry needs to be touched upon.
