Question on how to proceed, need your expert advice please. An organization that my team works with has a vendor database that is MSDE 1.0. According to the vendor this DB can be upgraded to a full version of MSSSQL. The vision for the project is to take a full backup of their db every 12 hrs and refresh the data on our server for reporting via the web.
Can I access the MSDE 1.0 DB via Enterprise Manager to do some management on the db (create a backup plan, etc)just as I would do if it was another MSSQL2000 Server?
Should they upgrade their database from MSDE 1.0 to MSSQL2000 (which will probably fall to me), or can I get a backup from MSDE 1.0 and simply restore to MSSQL2000?
Thanks in advance.

You could just register it and manage it but the best is to backup and restore in your SQL Server 2000 which lets you check the results before taking any action you may get orphaned logins but that is the good thing about backup and restore delete it and start over. I think it is one of the best features of SQL Server it makes moving databases too easy. Hope this helps.
