Need help in SQL Query

  • Yes I think that is the essence of it. You need a way to group the groups, either fixed within the query like Nevyn posted or alter the design (if possible) to cater for it.

Far away is close at hand in the images of elsewhere.

So table design issue because of bringing the group values on top of CCSG Group?

Yes, there is a hierarchical relationship within your groups, and it is not in your database design. So if your boss came to you and told you one of the subgroups was no longer part of CCSG group, or a new group was created that was, you'd have to change every query/program written around that instead of just updating the records.

  • Yeah Nevyn,

Should have to consider you told. Its like we hardcore the group values and when changes are needed, its going to be really tedious.

  • Hi,

Thanks to all who helped me through this.
