Multiple sqlservr.exe processes in taskmanager

  • Hi Experts,

    I have an issue of high memory usage in a Windows 2008 server.

    In task manager i see 2 sqlservr.exe process running and the highest memory usage is by these two.

    I have only one instance of sql server 2005 installed but still why multiple sqlservr.exe process.

  • Are you absolutely sure that there's only one instance? Check Services, check SQL configuration manager

    There was one more instance

    Windows Internal Database (SQL Server Embedded Edition) is a variant of SQL Server Express 2005 that is included with Windows Server 2008.

    Service name is Windows Internal Database(microsoft##ssee).
