I Know you can run multiple instances of SQL Server on the same machine, but can you run one instance accessing a single database on one machine and another instance accessing the same database on a different machine?
What would be the effect of the above circumstance?

Do you mean as a linked server?

NO. Not as a linked server. Just two instances running on two different machines in a domain accessing the same database.

So, if I correctly understood, you want to write data to a single DB from 2 diferent machines at once ?
