This is my first post to the forum, please excuse if im breaking any etiquette rules. :unsure:
We have an application we purchased from a software vendor. It is a VB6 ASP application running on a 2k3 IIS 6 server. It interacts with a SQL 2005 on a 2k8 server. The software company has been of little help in resolving this issue.:rolleyes:
About twice a day the system "hangs" and I investigate to find a transaction or two in the DTC listed as (Preparing). I have let these sit overnight just to see if they would timeout or do something but they were still there hours later. The timeout is set at 360 seconds. Usually during the day this must be resolved immediately giving me little time to troubleshoot as this software handles all of the company’s orders and inventory transactions and a reboot is the quickest way to get it back on track. Also I do not have a development environment at this time.
My questions are:
What can I do to troubleshoot this issue?
Is this most likely related to the software since the DTC runs fine most of the time?
Is there a way to get these stuck transactions out of the way without a reboot?
