My msdb data file has grown to 16GB and the culprit is the sysstdsteplog table. I ran sp_dump_dtssteplog, but it's been running now for 30 hours and the msdblog file has grown to 26GB. What is in this file and do I need to keep all that data?
You probably don't need to keep this, run a backup transaction with no_log to clear it out and then a dbcc shrinkfile () with the filename to reduce the size.
