I am having some trouble installing this patch...
I am installing some software that requires SQL server sp3a installed on win2000 sp4. Then while using the software I got an error saying it also needed to have MS03-031 installed in order to work and be at version 8.00.818 or higher. The current version appears to be 8.00.194 when I right click on the service manager icon in the system tray and click "about".
So I went out to the microsoft site fonud the download for MS03-031, downloaded it and installed it, and it says that it was delivered or patched successfully. It closes.....but the version of my sql server never changes and so I cannot install this software.
Any ideas?

Version 8.00.194 is the RTM or Original Release of SQL Server which is an indication that SP3a did not apply properly. Try re-applying SP3a and output the results to a log file to verify that it installed correctly. Hope this helps.
