Move SQL Cluster to a different SAN

  • Guys,

I need help!  We're in the midst of data center relocation.  My tasks is how to move a clustered sql server to the new data center.   The clustered server is SAN attached.

Our initial plan is to failover to Node2.  Bring down Node1 and move it to the new data center to minimize downtime.  It will be attach to a new SAN.

My question is how do you accomplish that since the new quorum drive will have different disk signature and i know cluster service keeps track of disk signatures.

My other question if this plan is feasible.  Should we be better off moving those two nodes all together and use clusterrecovery.exe to change disk signatures?

I really need your help on this!

    Thanks!

  • Have a look to a ressource kit tool named "ClusterRecovery" that permit to recover the quorum disk and shared disks.
