More than 26 servers

  • Hello,

We're planning to host 30 plus large windowsdatabaseservers on SAN-storage.

The servers will be Hyper-V 2012 guests

As far as websearching led me, the current setup would be

    Hyper-V 2012Host

*VM Guest 1 (vhdx) on Volume Guid A

*VM Guest 2 (vhdx) on Volume Guid B

    ...

*VM Guest 27 (vhdx) on Volume Guid AA

    Current concerns:

VHDX would be bigger than 2 TB (checkdisk?)

Is there a maximum of volume guids per server?

Any experience in managing VM's on volume guids

Can you recommend a forum to discuss this?

  • VHD is limited to 2TB

VHDX is newer version it can support upto 64TB you can refer the following article
