Mirrored database configuration question.

  • I understand the principal database ldf and mdf should be on seperate disks for performance reasons but am not sure if it makes sense to do so on the mirrored database. Would it help with performance? I would appreciate opinions on this.

    Thanks

  • Would you want the same level of performance if you had to fail over to the mirror?

How long do you expect to be running on the mirror in a failover situation?

Answer those questions, and I think you will have the answer to your question.

  • Another thing to note is if you are running in "High safety mode" then the information gets written to the T-Log on Mirrored, confirmed, then committed on principal. So I would recommend keeping same .. but answering those other questions by Jeff are also a good idea ;-).
