memory settings

  • Has anyone done any comparison on sqlserver with different memory setting to choose the best memory configuration? any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated

  • SQL 2K does a good job on it's own for the most part. Sometime setting a hard upper limit to allow NT to have some room is a good idea. I don't have strong feelings on the upper limit but I am sure some folks do.

  • Thanks for the response. But can you be a bit more specific how sql server 2000 helps in determining the best mem configuration

  • SQL 2000 has many enhancements in area of memory allocation. Based on your requirement you can set the parameter. If you go through the enhancements you should be able to notice which ones can be used. For example setting AWE etc...
