Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has/is working on this cert. I only ask because I was looking at the MS all-in-one cert book and has pretty bad reviews.
I'm a newby to MS SQL server, so ANY HELP would be appreciated.
Thx

What kind of help do you need exactly?

Ninja,
Basically I'm looking to get another skillset under my belt. I have worked on ACCESS db's in the past, but I want to take it to the "next level" by getting into SQL SERVER.
I would like to get MCTS certified for SQL SERVER and start actively looking for "entry level" positions in the industry. I'm trying to go the "cheap" route by using SQL SERVER express and study at home type training. However, I don't know if SSE has SSRS, SSIS, SSAS type of functionality.
Any thoughts or tips?
Thx

It doesn't. Express is just the core database instance. No SSRS, no SSAS, no SSIS.

Honesty, the certs are not likely to help you get a job if you have no experience. There are too many people around who have certs and no experience. If there's database people in the company you're working at, see if you can get involved a bit with them. Volunteering for a charity's also a good move. Idea is to get some experience, then get the certs, that way you can show qualifications and experience to a potential employer.

Download 180 days trial edition for learning. It is actually Enterprise edition. It has all the components and features.
Certification is not like a degree/diploma where you study first, then get degree/diploma, and finally get a job.
Here you work first, get experience, then get certified.

Thanks for the tips. I have downloaded the trial version and started to play with it.
