Matrix Help

    I'm looking for help on how to do something like this in Reporting Services. I'm using a Matrix, but always messes up and doesn't put the values where I want them to be.

    This is the a very simple form of matrix, the only way you can get this wrong is if you put your fields into the wrong place.

    When you place a matrix control on the report is has four "cells" showing, lets call them R1C1 (Row 1, Col1), R1C2 (Row 1, Col2), R2C1 (Row 1, Col1) and R2C2 (Row2, Col2).

    So the first thing you should do is to "drop" your date field into R1C2 and this will create your variable columns.

    Next, drop your CarType field into R2C1 which will create your Rows.

    Next, drop your Value (Count) field into R2C2.

    Finally, right click on R1C2 and select Subtotal.

    Now do a preview..................
