You know what, I have felt exactly the same way at times, yet I choose to continue to try and help. You have to be willing to rise above the petty, arrogant, condescending attitudes you sometime run up against. How you choose to deal with these shows more about your character than anything else.
You have to decide if you are going to rise above them or step down to their level.
I still stand by my earlier comments, you really didn't not provide them with all that much information and they may not know where to start looking for themselves.

I haven't stepped on their level. Actually I kept it polite. What I'm asking is not to allow this behavior to be left unpunished. What's the point if he/she can continue doing this and there are no consequences? Besides this I have checked the SQL Server Central guidelines and it states obscene and derogatory statements are reason to be banned from the site.
I understand your point and it is valid. I have been in similar situations before, but this is outrageous.

Okay, look back at your posts to me. Do you think you should now be banned? Some of the language you have used with me, though not directed at me, isn't appropriate either. In fact, if this were a soccer pitch I'd have shown you a red card already. I've chosen to ignore the unnecessary language.
You may have been polite, but you have allowed the confrontation change how you are dealing with the individual. This person may never apologize, but it isn't so much that they need to apologize as it is that you need to forgive them for their action, if even only to yourself. If you persevere and continue to try and help them, they may come around and you may actually get that apology. You may also get the satisfation of "seeing" the light bulb come on as they grasp what you were trying to get them to understand.
That is our payment for all the aggrevation we sometimes go through when helping others on this site or elsewhere.

Lynn,
I have intentionally started to use this language to allow you see what was the original conversion look alike. Steve Jones conveniently cleaned the language in the message thread after I raised my objections. So here it goes the explanation for the language.
So whats the point of having this "terms of service" on your site, if you don't follow your own rules? I'm sorry being so pain in the a... .. I'm sure this individual is now giggling silently watching how he already wasted my time and other's people time.

It's called shades of gray. The law is black and white, you are either right or wrong. How it is enforced is where the gray enters the picture. Steve has taken the necessary steps he needs to take publicly. He may be taking further steps privately with the individual. This could possibly be his first transgression, so a warning may be sufficient at this time. If such acts continue, Steve still has the right to remove the individual from the site. You have to trust that Steve will do what he feels is right, even if you don't agree with his decision.
Again, comes back to being response able. How are you going to choose to respond to this situation. Remember you are as much "on the spot" as the other person. How do you want to be perceived here?
March 24, 2009 at 4:18 pm
I removed language that was offensive from the posts. It was not intended to show Crazyroc in a bad light, but to remove offensive language. Adding it back doesn't prove a point, it makes you look bad.
I don't kick everyone off the first time that they make a mistake, or post something poor here. I didn't agree with you that this person should be removed. I did agree that personal insults were not acceptable behavior. However since then you have refused to acknowledge the point that I raised, and Lynn agreed with, that you did not provide much information. If I dropped this thread to the top 30 or 40 posters, they'd all sympathize with the lack of professional conduct by the OP, and I think they'd agree that you did not provide good information.
People come here to learn, and often they ask a question so solve a problem. If they're ignorant, and you don't point them in the right direction, they get frustrated. I understand that. If you don't want to help, then don't.

Hello,
To achieve this you can use XML configuration file, you can store all SMTP information in that XML file.
To start with that right click on blank area of control flow UI and select configure package.
Hope this will help you.
Regards.

Firstly, Lynn Pettis, Steve Jones sorry this has wasted so much of your time.
Secondly, I would like to thank Lynn Pettis & Steve Jones for your support.
As you can see, I have 226 Points & 478 Visits, and not once have I made these types of comments before, not only because Im not that type of person but I have never had such an unhelpful reply as I did from CozyRoc.
I come here to learn, I am very new to SSIS and often i admit I ask "silly" questions, but iv always got a good response! Even if its... "Please refer to BOL....."
Like Steve said, "If you don't want to help, then don't." I just didn’t appreciate the unhelpful reply.
Fair enough, CozyRoc answered my original question, but I didn’t want to start another thread on "how the data in a
SQL table would make it into the SendMail task." as I feel it was following on from the original post and legitimate question.

A Little Help Please (3/24/2009)
Fantastic! Can you give me some pointers in how to set this up?
My method would be to use an "Execute SQL" task and return a single row result to a variable, then use the variable in the sendmail tasks.
See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141003(SQL.90).aspx as a starting point.

Thanks Derek Dongray and Aasim, I will try both on my test system and see which one works well for me.
Question:
If each send mail as differant critira, i.e. Subject Line, Mesage Body
will both ideas still work?

I'm assuming you'd just create a 1 column, 1 row table with the name of the mail server.
The other idea I've used is to have a parameter table with 2 columns (parameter and value :)) and use it store all the odd bits of information like this which may change once in a blue moon, but which shouldn't be hard-coded all over the place.

OK, So iv first tried using the XML method.
I have created the XML which contains the SMTP properties.
I cant seem to work out how I would now use send mailto call this XML file?
